Small forward Malakai Champion will spend time on the sidelines after sustaining a hand injury during the WAFL Eagles’ clash with East Fremantle on Friday night.
“Malakai had an incident during a tackle in the third quarter and unfortunately sustained a small fracture in his hand,” High Performance Manager Phil Merriman said.
“’Mali’ will be having a small procedure on Wednesday, which will leave him out for a short period of time.”
Tyler Brockman also suffered a hamstring injury in the WAFL clash, with the forward set for another period on the sidelines after recently returning to action.
“Unfortunately, Tyler injured his hamstring during the WAFL game on Friday, timelines will be determined this week” Merriman said.
Key defender Reuben Ginbey is back running as he continues his recovery from a quad injury.
“Reuben has started his return to running program and will be building his volume and function over the next few weeks,” Merriman said.
Sam Allen is also progressing well in his rehabilitation from knee and hamstring injuries and is nearing a return to football drills.
“We will start to see Sam in some low-level football drills in the next week,” Merriman said.
There has also been positive progress for Cooper Duff-Tytler and Archer Reid as both continue their recoveries.
“Cooper is at a point where we will begin his on-field loading,” Merriman said.
“Once he has completed a couple of on-field sessions, we will be more specific on timelines.
“Archer is up and moving. We have a few clinical markers to hit before he resumes running.”
