Waalitj Marawar coach Daisy Pearce remains confident her side can turn its season around as the Eagles prepare for a crucial clash with Naarm at Mineral Resources Park on Sunday.
Despite falling to Kuwarna by 17-points in Adelaide last weekend, Pearce said the performance provided encouraging signs and reinforced the importance of the team's defensive focus.
"We were disappointed with the result, but hungry to get in and just get to work on the things that we need to improve on," Pearce said.
"Whilst we didn't get the result, we got a bit more out of the game that looked like us and gave us a blueprint of what's really important for us to get after.”
While the Eagles are still searching for their first win of the season, Pearce believes the group's best football can match any side in the competition.
"We really believe in the playing group that we've got, and we know that our best is competitive against anyone," Pearce said.
"0-3 is not ideal, but the equation's still the same. We've got an opportunity to knock one of those wins off this weekend."
Co-captain Bella Lewis said the playing group remained upbeat and focused on continuing the improvements shown across the opening three rounds.
"The beauty in the group that we have is they want to keep rocking up and getting better," Lewis said.
"From game one to game three, we've had things that we've consistently improved on.
“We're not the full product yet obviously, but we've had improvements and that's just what we're after."
Waalitj Marawar will face one of the competition's strongest outfits this weekend, with Pearce welcoming the chance to test her side against the best.
"They've played a lot of footy together," Pearce said.
"Just how connected they are, whether it's defensively or how quickly they all react to get dangerous offensively, I think it's their great strength."
As AFLW Indigenous Round continues across round four and the Eagles will also proudly wear their First Nations guernsey, designed by artist Andrew Beck.
"It's really special. It's obviously a round that we love celebrating," Lewis said.
"For us to be able to educate and have lots of conversations, we have such an important platform within the AFLW to be able to spread messages and have education.
"It'll be extra special running out on Sunday with it."
