Picking up where they left off, the reigning premiers flexed their muscles with an impressive round one win against the East Perth Royals.

In a high scoring contest, the Eagles started off hot with reliable forward Paul Whitehurst scoring the first four goals of the game.

The Eagles set the tone early, putting immense pressure on the Royals and keeping them goalless for the first quarter.

There were no signs of quit from the Royals however, starting an impressive comeback which saw them outscore the Eagles in the second quarter.

After being tested by the Royals, Eagles Captain Ben Green stood up strong, turning the game on its head in the second half.

The skipper had a whopping eight goals in the third quarter, including an impressive goal on the siren from beyond halfcourt, halting the Royals momentum.

In the end, the Eagles proved too good, with honourable lock down performances from the dynamic defender duo of Tin Yan Tse and Tristan Thomson.

The WAWFL Eagles will face the Subiaco Lions on October 4th at 1pm, looking to make a statement against the only team to defeat them last season.
