West Coast young gun Willem Duursma will showcase his speed when he lines up in the 2026 Telstra Half-Time Sprint at the Toyota AFL Grand Final on Saturday.
The Eagles' No.1 draft pick has been selected among eight of the AFL's fastest players to contest the traditional 100m dash at the MCG during the Grand Final break.
Duursma will take on reigning Telstra Half-Time sprint champion Jed Walter (Gold Coast), Luke Davies-Uniacke (North Melbourne), Arthur Jones (Western Bulldogs), Jarman Impey (Hawthorn), Ollie Florent (Carlton), Aliir Aliir (Port Adelaide) and Tasmania Devils representative Brandon Leary.
Participants were selected using Telstra Tracker data, with the race providing fans another highlight on the AFL calendar's biggest day.
Adding to the occasion, Australian sporting icon and Olympic gold medallist Cathy Freeman will fire the starting pistol for this year's sprint.
The winner of the Telstra Half-Time Sprint will also earn a $5,000 donation from Telstra to their junior football club, alongside the title of the AFL's fastest footballer.
