Ella Roberts' outstanding season continued in Sunday’s historic Western Derby win, with the West Coast Eagles star earning another perfect 10 coaches votes.

The maximum votes marked Roberts' fourth consecutive best-on-ground performance, having also received perfect 10-vote hauls against Essendon, St Kilda and Brisbane in the preceding three Eagles victories.

Roberts' rich vein of form has propelled her to 51 coaches votes for the season, leaving her fourth in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year Award behind Jasmine Garner (65), Charlie Rowbottom (62) and Georgie Prespakis (54).

Despite attracting close attention from the opposition, Roberts was influential throughout the breakthrough win over Fremantle, finishing with 22 disposals, 12 contested possessions and a crucial running goal in the third quarter.

Coach Daisy Pearce said Roberts' best afield performance was fitting recognition for a player who continues to thrive despite the attention she receives from opposition teams.

"Ella's unbelievable. She works so hard, she's an incredible talent," Pearce said post-match.

"For someone as young as her that gets a tag every single week, to play the way she does and take on everything that comes before her, it's pretty exciting.”

While Roberts' skill and athleticism are among the competition's elite, Pearce noted her courage is often overlooked.

"One of the things that's underrated in her game is her courage," Pearce said.

"We talk about her skill and her athleticism, but the way that she flies for marks in the air or attacks the ball at ground level and takes on tacklers.

"The part of her game that we've liked of late is she's really driving her legs and kicking more than handballing and just having a lot more impact.

"To her credit, I think her fitness and strength has really enabled her to have confidence to do that."
