AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year Award contenders Luke Shuey and Elliot Yeo got in on the votes, but it was another Eagle who got the nod as best on ground at Marvel Stadium on Sunday.

Senior coaches Adam Simpson and David Teague thought that West Coast high flier Liam Ryan was the most influential player in the club’s 24-point triumph over Carlton.

Ryan snared a game-high six AFLCA votes for his best performance of the year, which was highlighted by 16 disposals, five inside 50s, four marks and four goals.

Three other Eagles – Shuey, Yeo and Jeremy McGovern – each collected five votes from the coaches.

Shuey was superb against the Blues.

He amassed 27 disposals, reeled in four marks and booted two goals at the Docklands stadium.

Yeo caught the coaches’ eyes with a commanding 25-disposal, 10-tackle and six-mark effort, while McGovern was superior in the air, reeling in 13 marks – seven of which were intercepts.
