The West Coast Eagles are in the thick of their 2016 Australia Post Community Camp and the players wouldn’t have it any other way.

Spreading their wings in Kalgoorlie, as well as a plethora of schools across the metropolitan area, the players are relishing the chance to get out and meet their young fans across Western Australia.

Nic Naitanui, who is leading the charge in the Goldfields region, says the Eagles have a great connection with the area.

“Community Camp is always enjoyable for all the players, the majority of the squad is up here at the moment having fun and meeting all the kids at the schools,” Naitanui said.

“A lot of the guys have connections up here; some of the guys like Dom Sheed are from up here, obviously some past legends of the footy club as well.”

Brownlow Medallist Matt Priddis says it’s a great chance to see some new faces, all decked out in the blue and gold.

“Being a country boy myself I love this opportunity to get out and see the schools and kids that you don’t necessarily get to see that much,” Priddis told the ABC in Kalgoorlie.

“We have a lot of programs in the metro area where we get out and run programs, but the community camp is a great opportunity to spend some time.

“We’ve got some really passionate supporters in the country, it’s fantastic and particularly the Eagles have had a lot of very successful come from Kalgoorlie.

“It’s always a fun time of the year because it means pre-season is winding up and games are really close.

“It’s a great couple of days.”
