I hope you’re well.

Following the end of the latest Western Australian lockdown, and the State Government’s announcement that some restrictions will remain in place until 12:01am on Saturday, May 1, the immediate question on your mind may be what will happen with the RAC Derby scheduled for Sunday, May 2?

Well, the simple answer is that we don’t know, and we don’t expect we will know anything for at least a couple of days.

As we have learned from previous instances of changes to Optus Stadium capacity, even once a decision is made by the authorities, it takes a little time to translate what that means in reality.

We’re not speculating on what might occur, but we will work with Optus Stadium to best prepare for any contingency.

Regardless of what decisions are made, unfortunately it will inevitably be very late notice. Please bear with us and, if you can, please refrain from contacting our Membership Services team to ask about RAC Derby ticketing, as they will be working remotely to try to achieve the best outcomes possible.

We will post any updates in the Frequently Asked Questions section of our website here:
https://am.ticketmaster.com/westcoasteagles/membership-updates#/ and will email members as soon as we can.

For our members outside of Western Australia, we’re hoping that our travel schedule won’t be affected, and we’ll be back in Melbourne for our round 8 match against Hawthorn on Sunday, May 9, and Sydney beyond that. Again, nothing is certain, but the AFL will continue to work with authorities in every State to ensure that the 2021 Toyota AFL Premiership Season continues.

In the meantime, please stay COVID-Safe and well, wherever you may be.

Kind regards,

Trevor Nisbett
