Young utility player Jarrod Brander has been ruled out for two-to-three weeks after a training mishap during the week.

Brander, who played nine of the first 11 games before a groin injury interrupted his season, hurt his back at training on Thursday and left the track early.

Scans today revealed a lower back strain.

Brander was just establishing himself as a regular in the team when the groin injury struck and would have been in the discussion for the team that plays North Melbourne on Monday evening.
