The West Coast Eagles landed emerging ruck Liz McGrath after reaching a trade deal with North Melbourne. McGrath made her AFLW debut in 2022 with Port Adelaide, after an impressive season with the Kangaroos in the VFLW, which saw her named Fairest and Best. The now 28-year-old played three games for the Power, after making her debut in round one of season seven against West Coast at Mineral Resources Park. McGrath returned to the Roos ahead of the 2023 season, but was unable to break into the senior AFLW side behind two dominant rucks in Kim Rennie and Emma King. She has spent the past two years developing her ruck craft and studying dominant rucks in the League to help build her game. McGrath’s natural competitiveness and strong contested marking skills make her a well-rounded recruit for the Eagles.
