What's On: Port Adelaide v West Coast

The West Coast Eagles head to the Adelaide Oval (Kaurna) for round 18 of the 2025 AFL Premiership Season to face Port Adelaide on Sunday 13 July 2025 from 2:40pm (AWST).

The team will once again be donning our 2025 First Nations guernsey in celebration of NAIDOC Week, and is available to purchase at the West Coast Eagles SuperStore.

    Gift Exchange
The pre-game gift exchange of Boomerangs and Tapping sticks have been created by artists Tamara Hayden and Imogen Buckley who are proud Noongar women from Brookton WA.

“Dots of Country” – A Noongar Reflection

In Noongar culture, dot painting is a sacred way to share our connection to Country. Earthy tones like ochre, red, and brown represent the land – the soil, sand, and sacred sites that hold our ancestors’ stories. Green dots speak to the bushland, healing plants, and the living energy of nature. Blue dots symbolise our rivers and waterways – the lifeblood of Country, flowing with knowledge, spirit, and renewal. Each dot holds meaning, marking tracks, places, and stories. Through this art, we honour boodja (Country), our Dreaming, and the unbroken spirit of our people.

    Tickets

Tickets are available to purchase via Ticketek.

    Captain's Run

Eagles fans are invited to attend the club's Captain's Run on Saturday, July 12 from 11.00am at Henley High School Oval (cnr Cudmore Terrace and Henley Beach Road, Henley Beach).

Note that these details may change due to venue or team requirements.

    Match preview: Power v Eagles

Check out who it’s a big week for, what happened last time and the key match-up ahead of Sunday’s clash with Port

Where and when: Adelaide Oval, Sunday, July 13, 4:10pm

TV: Live on 7 and 7plus in WA, nationally on Fox Sports and Kayo (see broadcast guide here)

Last time we met: Port Adelaide 16.24 (120) defeated West Coast 10.10 (70) at Adelaide Oval, round 1, 2024.

The Eagles faced a tough challenge in their 2024 season opener against Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval, going down by 50 points despite several promising individual performances. No.1 draft pick Harley Reid impressed on debut with 16 disposals, five clearances and four inside 50s, providing a glimpse of his future potential. Jack Petruccelle was lively up forward with three goals, while Elliot Yeo and Jayden Hunt worked hard through the middle. West Coast showed resilience with a mini fightback in the third term, sparked by goals to Jack Darling and co-captain Liam Duggan, but were ultimately overpowered by a polished and relentless Port Adelaide side.

    08:20

What it means for the Eagles: After a disappointing performance against the Giants last Friday night, the Eagles will be looking to bounce back quickly and continue their build under first-year coach Andrew McQualter. With just seven rounds remaining, it’s a vital opportunity for the young group to rediscover form, build confidence and finish the season with momentum. The challenge is significant against a strong Port outfit, but the Eagles will take confidence from their last away trip when they pushed ladder-leading Collingwood deep into the final term.

The stat: West Coast started 9-2 in matches at Adelaide Oval after the venue's redevelopment but have lost their past nine clashes there, including three to Port Adelaide by an average margin of 58 points.

The match-up: Reuben Ginbey v Mitch Georgiades

WA product Georgiades has been in rare form this season and sits equal second in the Coleman Medal race with 42 majors. The mobile Port spearhead can get you in the air or up the ground, which is why Ginbey shapes as an ideal match-up given he only gives away one centimetre to the 192cm Georgiades and can run all day. The gun Eagles defender has enjoyed a stellar season himself and is likely in the running for a podium place in the John Worsfold Medal.

It’s a big week for: Jamie Cripps

Sunday’s clash with Port Adelaide marks a significant milestone for Jamie Cripps as he becomes just the 12th player in West Coast history to reach 250 games. A premiership player and one of the club’s most consistent performers over more than a decade, Cripps has been a selfless, reliable presence across half-forward and occasionally on a wing. Renowned for his work rate, pressure and team-first attitude, Cripps’ milestone is a testament to his resilience and professionalism. The Eagles will no doubt draw inspiration from the occasion as they aim to honour his contribution with a spirited performance away from home.

Big call: Elijah Hewett will collect his career-high disposals with over 22 possessions for the first time.

Match report: Fast-starting Eagles overpowered by Port

West Coast jumped out of the gates but was eventually reeled in by the Power

West Coast was plucky but fast-finishing Port Adelaide stormed to a comeback 26-point win at Adelaide Oval on Sunday.

The Eagles burst out of the blocks and led by 33 points in the opening quarter before the Power rallied to a 12.15 (87) to 9.7 (61) victory.

The Power, who lost captain Connor Rozee to a finger injury, kicked the opening goal of the match but didn't hit the front again until early in the final term.

West Coast produced its highest scoring quarter under first-year coach Andrew McQualter, booting 6.3 to 2.2 in the opening term, getting out of the gates quickly in Jamie Cripps' milestone 250th game for the club.

The Eagles flourished with a 17-8 inside-50 dominance on a day when it was announced their midfielder Jack Graham had been suspended by the AFL for four matches for a homophobic slur against an opponent.

West Coast's 25-point lead at quarter-time prompted stern words from Power coach Ken Hinkley to his players.

    08:09

But the Eagles, after a superb Liam Baker goal when the ex-Tiger had two disposals in the chain and then converted with a third, were still four goals up midway through the second stanza.

The tide then turned, with Port scoring two quick majors to creep within eight points.

But late set-shot misses from Port pair Mitch Georgiades and Jack Lukosius ensured the visitors led by 11 points at half-time.

Both teams kicked two majors in a tight third term – Port kicked 2.6 and scores were level until a late Jobe Shanahan strike gave the Eagles a six-point edge at three-quarter time.

But Port's Darcy Byrne-Jones put his side in front five minutes into the final term – the first of five successive goals for his club.

Power forward Georgiades kicked 3.5, Jason Horne-Francis booted three majors from 27 disposals, and Joe Richards and Byrne-Jones kicked two goals each.

Zak Butters, whose 38 disposals included 14 in the first term, was brilliant as Port booted the last five goals of the game to triumph.

Port's standout Butters received solid midfield support from Brownlow medallist Ollie Wines (25 touches), and Kane Farrell (20) was creative at half-back.

West Coast young gun Harley Reid gathered a team-high 26 disposals, Clay Hall (21 touches) and Jack Williams (two goals) impressed, while veterans Liam Duggan (21) and Baker (18) were prominent.

Jobe Shanahan continued to impress with his strong attack on the football in the air and smarts on the ground, while Harry Edwards took an outstanding nine intercept marks in a brilliant effort down back.

West Coast returns home to face Richmond on Saturday night at Optus Stadium in round 19.
