It’s been a whirlwind year for Connor West, the son of ex-Eagles midfielder Robbie, after being snapped up with pick 23 in the Mid-Season Rookie Draft from West Perth.
The 22-year-old played just three matches with the West Coast WAFL side, before making his debut at AFL level.
West donned the blue and gold against the Adelaide Crows in his first match and roped in 13 contested possessions and 11 ground ball gets – the most of any Eagle for the match – while proving himself as a handy inside and outside midfielder.
From there, West missed just one match with groin soreness, and has become a valuable asset in his short time with the club.
Best season performance: Dynamic on debut
Connor West displayed the resilience and grit which epitomise the West Coast midfielder during his first match for the club in round against Adelaide round 18.
With 19 disposals, four tackles, West proved he could slot into the senior side with ease, and looked right at home in his debut match in the blue and gold.
West also topped the Eagles’ charts with contested possessions (13) and ground ball gets (11), showing he can match it with the best midfielders the competition has to offer.
