West Coast defender Jessica Sedunary will be a test for Friday night’s home game against Richmond.

Sedunary injured her calf back in round four and has been working hard with medical staff to make her return.

Scans showed a tear after feeling a grab in her calf shortly after accelerating into a contest, with Sedunary subsequently leaving the field for the remainder of the match.

“Jess is still recovering from her calf injury she sustained against Greater Western Sydney,” Salisbury said.

“She was close to making her return last week but will have another good week in training and is on track to make her return this week if she can pass her test for Friday night.”

Also making good progress with her long-term injury is recent draftee Lauren Wakfer.

The 18-year-old was picked up by the club weeks after rupturing her ACL and has been working with medical staff to make her debut in the 2023 season.

One of the top performing rucks in the West Australian draft pool, Wakfer has come into the club as a long-term development project and is showing signs of a strong recovery.

“Lauren has made really good progress out on the track this week and will look to join the introduction run sessions with the team,” Salisbury said.

“She had surgery just before she was drafted and we look forward to seeing what she can deliver for the club in 2023.”
