Midfielder Ashleigh Gomes will make her debut for West Coast while defender Emily Bennett returns to the line up ahead of the Eagles’ final clash at home against the Western Bulldogs this Saturday at Mineral Resources Park.

An opportunity opened for Gomes following an injury to Eagles speedster Mikayla Western, who broke her arm following a trademark chasedown tackle during last week’s clash against Geelong.

After going down in the fourth quarter, the 24-year-old will unfortunately miss the remainder of a very promising first season for the club, with Gomes stepping up to fill her position.

The East Fremantle product has been fighting for a spot in the Eagles’ team since joining the club prior to round one as injury cover.

After impressing at training, her inclusion will mark the 13th debutant for the club this season as the team continues to build its developing squad.

Emerging defender Bennett returns to the Eagles outfit after missing the past two rounds, with her last game being in round six against Hawthorn.

Beth Schilling, Emily Elkington and Abbygail Bushby have all been named as emergencies for Saturday’s game.

Elkington continues to push for her AFLW debut ahead of next round’s season-finale against Melbourne.
