The West Coast Eagles hosted its second Geoff Christian Society lunch of season 2016 at Domain Stadium’s Polly Farmer Room recently.

The event had a special 30th anniversary theme and sought to celebrate the club’s 1992, 1994 and 2006 premiership wins.

More than 150 members of the society were entertained by three of the club’s premiership stars, Dwayne Lamb, David Hynes and Adam Selwood, who participated in a Q&A panel with MC Gerry Gannon.

Attendees lapped up Lamb’s tale of chasing down the great Robert Scott en route to the 1992 flag, were intrigued by Hynes’ assessment of the modern ruckman and questioned Selwood about his new role as a development coach at the club.

The afternoon also boasted an appearance from two of the club’s current players, Mitch Brown and Matt Allen.

Brown regaled the crowd with stories of his comeback from knee and finger injuries while Allen, who was recruited to the club during last year’s draft, told members about his football evolution since entering the professional system a little over seven months ago.

West Coast Eagles chairman Alan Cransberg also addressed the audience about the future direction of the club before presenting the society’s 13 newest members with gifts.

The Geoff Christian Society is a group of supporters who have notified their intention to leave a bequest to the club.

A bequest is a gift promised in a person’s will to a named benefactor.

The Society is named in honour of the late Geoff Christian, who played a significant role in the establishment of the club, as well as its direction in the formative years.

Members of the GCS are long-time supporters who receive a membership gift and receive invitiations to regular social gatherings and luncheons sponsored by the club.

They also have their names placed on an Honour Board displayed in the club's reception area.

Donations from bequests will assist in future development of our facilities, high performance and community programs.
