The West Coast Eagles’ famous mascot, Auzzie, got the opportunity to revisit her birthplace recently when the team travelled to Alice Springs to face the Demons a fortnight ago.

Auzzie was born in Alice Springs and taken illegally as a pet.

She was rescued and eventually relocated to Perth's WA Birds of Prey Centre, where she met her eventual long time handler Yvonne Sitko.

Sitko said the trip was an amazing experience for the wedge-tailed Eagle.

“The local community really embraced Auzzie and it was incredible how many people knew about her story," Sitko said.

Auzzie has been a feature of West Coast home games for many years and still thrills Eagles fans by soaring in front of over 50,000 fans every second week.

The chance to return to her original nest was an opportunity of a lifetime.
