Jan Cooper, a much celebrated and revered pioneer of women’s football, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the West Coast Eagles.

Already the club’s No.1 ticketholder and the first female inducted into the WA Football Hall of Fame, Ms Cooper has been employed in the football industry for the last 18 years – with the WA Football Commission, the AFL and the Eagles.

In her role with the AFL as the national manager of women’s’ and girls’ development she oversaw the explosion of participation from 16,000 in 2005 to 500,000 in 2017. That number continues to blossom with the AFLW competition providing females with role models who inspire them to play the game.

In 2018 she was appointed to the Eagles to assist with the club’s entry into the AFLW competition and she continues to play a key role as a mentor to all in the women’s program.
