West Coast Eagles forward Jake Waterman has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering a significant shoulder injury in Sunday’s loss against Adelaide.
The All-Australian will require surgery to repair damage to his right shoulder and will be moved onto the Eagles’ inactive list.
“Unfortunately, Jake dislocated his shoulder in the last quarter on the weekend,” High Performance Manager Mat Inness told westcoasteagles.com.au.
“He has consulted a surgeon, and due to extensive damage, the decision has been made to undergo a shoulder reconstruction, which will rule him out for the remainder of the season.”
In positive news, young midfielder Campbell Chesser is on track to return to play this weekend after undergoing ankle surgery earlier in the year, while Jamie Cripps (knee) and Jack Petruccelle (shoulder) are both progressing well through their rehab programs.
“Campbell will play his first game for the season this weekend after his recovery from ankle surgery,” Inness said.
“Jamie had successful surgery from his knee issue and is progressing well, and we hope to be available around our mid-season bye period.
“Jack has made good progress from his shoulder injury, he still has some boxes to tick at training this week before being available to play, so he will be a test for this weekend.”
