Star midfielder Elliot Yeo made a welcome return to training this week, joining the main group for the first time since suffering an ankle injury in January.

Yeo underwent a second operation on his ankle last month and is building his training loads to return to play.

“Elliot is still around a month away from returning as we integrate him further into main training," High Performance Manager Mat Inness told westcoasteagles.com.au.

Meanwhile, defender Tom Cole is progressing well in his recovery from a hamstring strain following a significant training session on the weekend and Monday.

He is a test to be available to face Collingwood on Saturday night at Marvel Stadium.

“He’s tracking in the right direction but still has a few boxes to tick later this week before he’s declared available.” Inness said.

Harry Edwards will also be monitored ahead of this week’s clash after experiencing hamstring tightness late in Sunday’s match against Carlton.

“Harry reported some hamstring tightness during the game, but he has trained well since and is symptom free,” Inness said.

“His scan results were reassuring, however he will be a test for this weekend and he’ll need to complete training on Wednesday to be cleared for selection.”

Forward Matt Owies is unlikely to feature this weekend despite a strong training session with the main group last weekend.

“Matt is tracking well and continuing to build his loads, but he’s more likely to be available next week,” Inness said.
