“Dots of Country” – A Noongar Reflection

In Noongar culture, dot painting is a sacred way to share our connection to Country. Earthy tones like ochre, red, and brown represent the land – the soil, sand, and sacred sites that hold our ancestors’ stories. Green dots speak to the bushland, healing plants, and the living energy of nature. Blue dots symbolise our rivers and waterways – the lifeblood of Country, flowing with knowledge, spirit, and renewal. Each dot holds meaning, marking tracks, places, and stories. Through this art, we honour boodja (Country), our Dreaming, and the unbroken spirit of our people.
