The West Coast Eagles are pleased to welcome Sam Radford to the Club’s coaching panel ahead of the 2026 season.

Radford arrives at the Eagles from Melbourne, where he most recently worked in the Demons’ AFL program, coaching the midfield with former club great Nathan Jones.

A highly regarded coach with a diverse football background. Radford played VFL for Sandringham and coached successfully at local level before moving into VFL coaching.

He joined Melbourne in 2016, gaining experience across the VFL and AFLW programs before stepping into the caretaker Casey VFL senior coaching role midway through 2019. Radford held the position until the end of 2020, before returning to teaching as the Covid pandemic reshaped the competition.

Remaining connected to the Demons, he later worked in opposition strategy and education before being elevated into the AFL program in 2025 to help guide the midfield group.

Now making the move west, Radford expressed his excitement about joining the Eagles.

“I’m really excited to be coming to the Eagles,” Radford said.

“It’s a Club I’ve long admired for its history, loyal supporters and success on and off the field.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to work again with ‘Mini’, he is a coach I hold in high regard having worked with him previously.

“I’m excited for the challenge ahead and can’t wait to get to work.”

West Coast Eagles Head of Football John Worsfold said Radford would bring valuable experience and energy to the coaching group.

“It’s great to welcome Sam to our coaching team and his family to our club.” Worsfold said.

“Sam has a great ability to educate players in their roles and game plan.

“His relationship with Andrew McQualter is a real asset, and we’re confident he’ll make a big impact at the Club.”
