West Coast will keep hunting wins on the run home to frank the team’s improvement this season, midfielder Jack Graham says.

The Eagles let a golden opportunity for a fifth victory slip against Richmond at the MCG on Sunday due to wayward goalkicking.

Ahead of Impact Round supporting Telethon against Collingwood, Graham declared West Coast was determined to taste victory again.

The Eagles came close to upsetting the Pies in Scott Pendlebury’s record-breaking 433rd match in round 11 at the ‘G and will take confidence from that performance.

“Last game against Collingwood at the ‘G for Pendlebury’s famous game the boys gave it to them,” Graham said.

“I was unfortunately not playing that game but we played another great brand of footy, I think we fell 10 points short, so for them to come over here and play in a packed Optus Stadium in front of our fans … we’re going to be fired up, coming out ready and no better team to come up against than Collingwood.”

Graham conceded losing to his former side left a bitter taste, with the Eagles kicking 9.19 in an 11-point defeat to the Tigers.

“It was one of those days and it didn’t go our way,” Graham said.

“The football club, the fans, us players we definitely want wins – that’s why we play the game of footy.  

“That’s why that one on the weekend really, really does hurt but there’s three games left in the season and we’re going to try and win all three of them.

“We have improved, our gameplan is getting better and better, so another three opportunities to go out there, play with the boys and try and get another win before the season finishes.”

Graham said the entire squad would support young star Willem Duursma, who was emotional post-match but came into the Club smiling and hungry to improve on Tuesday.

“Obviously you feel for him because you don’t want to see anyone like that, but it just shows how much he cares,” Graham said.

“He’s such a ripping fella, such a great player and it’s only his first year so he’s riding the emotions but we all are.

“We’ve just got to get around each other, support each other and keep showing up. Like I said, three games left, we want to get a win.”

The Eagles will wear special warm-up shirts designed by Telethon Champion Matilda at Optus Stadium on Sunday and will auction the shirts post-game, with all proceeds going to Telethon.  

“There’s still opportunity to buy seats and we’ve got Matilda coming in tomorrow to go through the design of the warm-up shirts,” Graham said.

“Really looking forward to that and it’s going to be a great round.”
