Resilience and firepower were showcased by the Eagles across a successful double-header, overcoming the Royals by 22 points and Swan Districts by 53 points.

The opening clash against the Royals proved to be a genuine test, with scores see-sawing throughout an exciting first half before the Eagles seized control after the main break.

Captain Ben Green led the charge early with three first-quarter goals, while defensive efforts from Vice-Captain Tristan Thomson kept the margin within reach.

From trailing by three points after the first quarter and facing a 16-point deficit early in the second term, the Eagles responded through Paul Whitehurst and Jason Kappler to regain momentum and take a four-point lead heading into the main break.

Whitehurst continued his outstanding form after half-time, controlling the forward half with strong marking and multiple goals as the Eagles established a 22-point advantage in the third term.

The Royals refused to back down even up to the last two minutes, but Tyson Knowles proved the difference in the final quarter with three consecutive goals to help seal a hard-fought victory.

Riding their momentum, the Eagles made a fast start against Swan Districts for the second match of the day.

Whitehurst opened the scoring within seconds and added four first-quarter goals to his name as the Eagles burst out into a commanding lead.

Vice-Captains Levi Bennett and Thomson kept the scoreboard ticking over in the second term, extending the lead over Swan Districts.

Green took control once again with four third-quarter goals, while Bennett finished with five majors for the game as the Eagles maintained their dominance.

Swan Districts finished strongly in the final term, keeping the Eagles to just the one goal as fatigue started to kick in.

However, a balanced team performance at both ends of the court proved enough for the Eagles to be victorious over the Swans.
