West Coast will be without Kayla Dalgleish for the start of the AFLW 2026 season after she sustained a hamstring injury during the club's practice match against Adelaide.
Dalgleish is listed as three to five weeks from returning and will miss the season-opener against Greater Western Sydney on August 16
“Kayla suffered a hamstring injury in our practice match against Adelaide which will see her miss the start of the season,” High Performance Manager Sam Batteron said.
“She has made a return to running and is progressing well.”
Courtney Rowley continues to edge closer to a return as she works through the final stages of her ACL rehabilitation.
“Courtney is working through the final stages of her ACL rehab and has been integrating into training with the main group,” Batterton said.
Fellow midfielder Lily Paterson remains unavailable after experiencing bone stress in her hip.
The club will gain a clearer indication of Paterson's return timeline once she is back running and able to progress through the next stage of her rehabilitation.
“Lily has experienced some bone stress in her hip that is currently keeping her from training,” Batterton said.
“Once her pain has settled and she is back running, we'll be able to map out a return-to-play timeline.”
Pre-Season Draft pick Lily Smart has begun her recovery after undergoing successful ACL surgery last week.
Mikayla Western is on the inactive list for the coming campaign as she continues her recovery from the ACL injury suffered towards the end of last season.
“Mikayla's leadership around the group this year will be invaluable as she continues her rehabilitation,” Batterton said.
