West Coast’s exciting young talent has been recognised on the national stage, with four Eagles named in the AFLPA’s AFLW 22Under22 team, the most of any club.

Ella Roberts, Charlotte Thomas, Georgie Cleaver and Lucia Painter were all voted into the final team by fans after standout seasons.

Adding to the achievement, Roberts has been named captain of the 2025 22Under22 side, cementing her status as one of the competition’s brightest stars.

Roberts has now been selected in every 22Under22 team since her debut and continues to set the benchmark for emerging talent.

“It’s a real honour to be voted in as captain,” Roberts said.

“Having the fans involved makes it even more special, and to think they see me as a leader and a good footballer is something I’m really proud of.”

Thomas, also making consecutive selections, continues to shine as one of the league’s premier defenders, combining elite intercept marking with precision kicking to play a crucial role in West Coast’s backline.

“It’s pretty special to see my name in the 22under22 team alongside some incredible players,” Thomas said.

 “It really shows how strong the competition is becoming, with so many talented young stars coming through. To be recognised among them is humbling and an absolute honour.

Cleaver’s versatility and athleticism have made her a valuable asset across multiple positions, and her selection reflects the impact she’s had in just her early years at the club.

“We’ve made huge progress this year compared to last, especially reaching finals. It really shows how far the program has come and the growth within such a young side,” Cleaver said.

“I’m really grateful to be recognised, especially after building on my first season and having a stronger year. It’s an honour to be named alongside so many talented teammates in the 22Under22 team.”

Painter impressed in her debut season with her speed, skill, and ability to influence games in big moments, earning her place among the best young talent in the competition.

“It feels surreal, I never expected to receive an award like this, I’ve just been focused on enjoying my footy, learning, and developing both as a player and a person off the field,” Painter said.

“To be recognised among the best young talent in the competition is an incredible honour, and I’ll take it with both hands.”
