Sitting a game behind South Fremantle in fifth spot, today’s contest provides the perfect opportunity for the WAFL Eagles to bed down their spot in the top five.

South Fremantle currently sit in fourth spot on the ladder with a 3-1 record. The Bulldogs also boast an impressive percentage of 148.6, which was bolstered by a 91-point thumping of fierce rivals East Fremantle last week.

After taking down a star-studded Claremont midfield in round four, the Eagles’ on-ballers will need to be on point against a midfield featuring the likes of Jacob Dragovich (30.8 disposals per game), Brendan Verrier (25 disposals), and Jake Florenca (23.7 disposals).

Today’s fixture will also see the league’s two in-form ruckmen face off in what is sure to be an exciting contest.

Bulldogs ruckman Brock Higgins is currently ranked number one in the competition for hitouts with a total of 194, while Keegan Brooksby is second with 143 hitouts to his name.

West Coast’s chances of winning at Fremantle Oval will hinge on shutting down Bulldogs tall forward Mason Shaw, who looks to have regained some of his 2018 form after kicking four goals against the Sharks last week.

The Eagles will be without defender Francis Watson, who has been ruled out for at least two weeks after sustaining a shoulder injury against the Tigers last week.

Bouncedown is 1.15pm at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.
