The West Coast Eagles have welcomed midfielder Lily Paterson back to WA in a late trade with Port Adelaide, while Lucy Boyd has departed the nest and returned to South Australia.

To complete the trade, West Coast moved six spots down in the 2025 draft, exchanging pick 30 for pick 36, while also trading a future third-round selection in 2026 in return for Port Adelaide’s future fourth-round pick (tied to Brisbane).

Paterson, originally recruited from Swan Districts, was recruited by the Power with pick 19 overall in last year’s draft.

The 19-year-old broke into Port Adelaide’s side in round two and impressed on debut before adding five more games to her tally, averaging 9.3 disposals and showcasing her talent and upside throughout.

Boyd joined West Coast from South Australia via pick 53 in last year’s draft and played two games after making her debut in round 10 against Geelong.

“We are extremely excited to welcome Lily into our club. As a first-round selection last year, we have tracked her closely throughout the season and have long admired her game,” AFLW List Manager Jordan Loxley said.

“Lily is a genuine inside midfielder with exceptional hands, composure and decision-making.

“Her ability to set up teammates on the outside through her vision and ball use is a standout, and we believe she will thrive within our program.

“While we are thrilled to bring Lily in, it does come with mixed emotions as we say goodbye to Lucy who heads to Port.

“Lucy has contributed so much to our program both on and off the field, and she leaves with our utmost respect and appreciation. We sincerely wish her all the very best for the future.”
