West Coast Eagles defender Liam Baker has been selected to represent Western Australia in the 2026 AAMI AFL Origin game on February 14.

Baker will suit up in the black and gold alongside the likes of Carlton’s two-time Brownlow medallist Patrick Cripps (captain), Sydney star Chad Warner and Coleman medallist Jesse Hogan at Optus Stadium.

The selection is another accolade to add to Baker’s career achievements, following his John Worsfold Medal win at the end of last season, further highlighting his influence and leadership in his first campaign as an Eagle.

The two-time premiership player and Lake Grace native said he’s looking forward to the Origin rivalry between the two states.

“It’s exciting, I didn’t see a lot of the Origin back in the day, but it sounded like it was a lot of fun and big rivalry between the states,” Baker said.

“Obviously there’s always been a big rivalry between us and the Vics, and I’m really looking forward to getting out there and playing with the WA boys and representing the state.

“WA supporters are huge footy fans and always support their own so I’m sure they will turn out, and if we get up against the Vics here at Optus Stadium, it will be a good day out.”

The AAMI AFL Origin game will start at 4:40pm WST on Saturday, February 14 at Optus Stadium, with the game to be broadcast on Channel 7 and Fox, and streamed on 7Plus and Kayo.
