West Coast has secured the future of four promising AFLW talents, with Lucia Painter, Abby Bushby, Zoe Wakfer and Lily Smart all committing to new deals.

In a major boost for the Eagles, Painter has signed a five-year extension, Bushby has re-signed for four years, Wakfer has recommitted for three more seasons and Smart has signed a one-year extension.

Painter’s new contract ties the former No.7 draft pick from Bendigo to the Club until at least the end of 2031.

"We’re thrilled to have Lu commit her long-term future to West Coast," AFLW List Manager Jordan Loxley said.

"To finish her first season as our leading goalkicker and place third in the AFLW Rising Star voting highlights the impact she made immediately.

"Her ability to influence games as both a forward and midfielder, combined with her outstanding work ethic and drive to improve, gives us great confidence that her best football is still ahead of her."

In her fifth AFLW season, Bushby has developed into a consistent midfield performer, combining her strength around stoppages with an increasing influence across the ground.

The 22-year-old from Swan Districts is a key member of the playing group and is now locked in with the Eagles until 2030.

"Abby has taken her game to another level during the pre-season, building on her strengths as an exceptional stoppage player with one of the best abilities to read the ball off hands that I’ve seen," Loxley said.

"The work she’s put in over the off-season has seen her become more influential around the ground, making her an even more complete midfielder."

Exciting defender Wakfer has shown strong signs throughout her development and is viewed as an important piece of the Eagles' future.

The 22-year-old played all 13 games last season and has signed on with West Coast until the end of 2029.

"Zoe’s growth over the last 12 months has been exceptional," Loxley said.

"Her combination of speed, athleticism and competitiveness allows her to take on some of the most damaging key forwards in the competition, while her growth as an intercept player has added another dimension to her game."

Smart made an immediate impression after arriving at the Club via the pre-season draft, however an ACL injury at training has sidelined her for the 2026 campaign.

"While it was disappointing to see Lily sustained an ACL injury so soon after arriving at the club, what she showed in her short time with us gave us great confidence in her potential," Loxley said.

"Her athleticism, competitiveness and natural football ability stood out immediately, and we believe she has all the attributes for a long and successful AFLW career at West Coast."
