Harley Reid will be sidelined for the first two rounds of the 2027 season after West Coast unsuccessfully challenged the Match Review Officer’s sanction at the AFL Tribunal.

Reid was cited by the MRO for his tackle on Hawthorn’s Jai Newcombe in round 24, which was classified as Careless Conduct, High Impact and High Contact, resulting in a two-match sanction.

The Eagles sought to downgrade the impact from ‘High’ to ‘Medium’ and receive a reduction in Reid’s suspension to one match at the Tribunal on Wednesday.

After hearing arguments from West Coast and the AFL's counsel, the Tribunal deliberated for 40 minutes before finding the impact was ‘High’ and confirming the two-match sanction would be upheld.
