There is nothing like a little competitive tension to get the adrenaline racing and a series of beach challenges at Meelup Beach certainly stimulated the West Coast Eagles players yesterday.

The beach activities rounded out the community engagement element of the Dunsborough camp, with the players split into small teams and then competing in a series of different events.

From a board activity, to digging for tennis balls hidden in the sand and using them to knock cans off an Esky, to ‘walking’ NFL, the players relished the competitive element of the morning.

In the American football adaptation, players were allowed only to walk after receiving a tennis ball while every other aspect was played at full tilt.

Experienced midfielder Mark Hutchings was arguably the most valuable player with three touch downs, one a spectacular snare in the opening seconds of the final.

Youngsters Brayden Ainsworth and Jake Waterman also pulled in amazing catches during their qualifying rounds.
