West Coast has made one change to the side that defeated Melbourne in its season opening fixture 12 weeks ago.

The Eagles’ match committee has brought in versatile tall Oscar Allen to face Gold Coast at the expense of ruckman Tom Hickey, who has been omitted from the side.

Allen was unavailable for selection due to injury when West Coast squared off against Melbourne at Optus Stadium almost three months ago.

But the 21-year-old used the AFL recess to his advantage, diligently abiding by a strength and conditioning program laid out by the club that has him fit, firing and ready to take on the Suns this Saturday night.

With Hickey absent, Allen will likely be called on to fulfil the role of back up ruckman to marquee big man Nic Naitanui.

Fortunately the West Perth product is well versed in the role, having played it for the majority of the 21 senior he featured in last year.

An exciting youth brigade – plus a wily veteran - will be at the ready should anything go awry before the first bounce, with Jake Waterman, Tom Cole, Bailey Williams and Will Schofield named as the team’s emergencies for the round two contest.

The Eagles will restart their 2020 premiership tilt by taking on Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium from 5.40pm AWST on Saturday.

Western Australian-based fans will be able to watch all the action live on 7 Mate, Fox Sports 3, Kayo or the official AFL app.
