Dealing with the disappointment of being left out of the West Coast Eagles team and dropping back into the WAFL can be challenging, but Bradd Dalziell and Mark Hutchings continue to shine in the second tier competition.

Hutchings, who had around 20 possessions in the disappointing loss to Richmond last Monday night, pushed aside the deflation of being excluded for the game against St Kilda and produced a best-on-ground effort against Claremont.

The hard running midfielder was opposed to Eagles teammate and Claremont tough nut Pat McGinnity and they were engaged in an enthralling battle.

Hutchings had 32 possessions and kicked three goals, while McGinnity, who was not standing Hutchings 100 percent of the time, also had 30 disposals and kicked a goal for Claremont, who claimed the premiership points.

Meanwhile, Dalziell, a running machine, added to his strong numbers with 36 touches for East Fremantle in their win against Peel. He capped off his day with two goals.

Half-forward Mark Nicoski continues to make strong progress in his return, gathering 17 possessions and kicking two goals for Subiaco against South Fremantle, while young defender Adam Carter is progressing nicely for South Fremantle and had 17 possessions and five marks as a defender.

With three clubs having a bye, two players were engaged in the reserves – Simon Tunbridge receiving permission to play with West Perth because Perth had a bye and Jeremy McGovern making his return from an ankle injury with Claremont.

Tunbridge had 11 possessions and kicked a goal, while McGovern had 12 touches and six marks for the Tigers.
