The West Coast Eagles AFLW side are still riding the high of yesterday’s win but now they have something else to celebrate.

Imahra Cameron and Chantella Perera have made their mark on the AFLW Team of the Week, being selected in the forward and defensive lines respectively.

Cameron had a stellar game which saw her snap the Eagles’ first goal of the match.

But the onslaught didn’t stop there, with Cameron slotting two more consecutively to become the seventh person in AFLW history to kick three goals in a game.

Cameron also made Eagles’ history as the first multiple goal scorer in a match.

Grace and Niamh Kelly followed the succession with two goals each.

“It was nice to sit back there and watch them do their thing, they’re all super talented and it’s nice to be able to put the ball out in front of them, let them run and let them do their thing and finish off, which is great to celebrate back there.” Perera said.

Meanwhile Perera was holding strong in the backline, keeping the Cats scoreless until the final 60 seconds in the third.

Perera took home 16 disposals, nine intercepts and five marks in one of her career-high matches.

“We’ve got a pretty young line-up back there and a lot of new girls back there, so a part of being defence is really connecting as a group, but each week we’re getting better and learning what each other can do.” Perera said.

“We had a good session out on the track last week and we just focussed on what we could do well and composure out of the back 50, I think that was really important and I think we showed that today.”

Both Cameron and Perera were vital cogs in the machine for Monday’s win, but also credited the team’s effort.

“I think it was great for us to get out there and just play our brand of footy, it was bouncing back from last week.” Perera said.

“Each week we know we’re getting better, for us I think it was just getting out on field and doing for four quarters what our brand of footy is.

“I think we did all the little things, we focussed on our game plan, focussed on what matters to us, really working on our trademark, fighting for four quarters and bringing that consistency in what we do.

“We’re still a young group and we don’t have that many games under our belt, so every game that we get out there is good experience and I think it’s time we start showing what we can do out there.”
