The Eagles came out fit and firing on Saturday in what was a strongly contested round one clash.

The fight shown by both sides made for a high-intensity, fast-paced game that went right down to the wire.

Isiah Winder and Nathan Vardy both hit the scoreboard multiple times, with five and four respectively.

In terms of disposals, Xavier O’Neill topped the charts with 31, while Zane Trew, Luke Foley, Brayden Ainsworth and Hamish Brayshaw all finished with 24.

“It was a great game against Perth, they were a really tough opponent, staying strong around the footy and ran really hard for the four quarters," Gavin Bell, Head of Development told westcoasteagles.com.au.

“We were really pleased with the way our guys fought the game out, they’re continuing to have a crack on things we’ve been working on and they’re continuing to build as a team.

"They gave a four-quarter effort and we think our WAFL-listed players were terrific, they gave great fight throughout the game and they’re really providing a platform for our team to play good, consistent football."

Isiah Winder

Playing only a handful of WAFL games so far, to kick five as a midfield/half-forward was really exciting. He’s shown a lot of class around goal and his ability to win his own ball as well as get dangerous has been really impressive so far.

Nathan Vardy & Xavier O’Neill

Both coming back from the AFL team, came back and had a great attitude and played to their strengths and had a strong impact on the game. Whether it was ‘Vards’ up forward or in the ruck, or Xavier onball. We were really impressed with the way they went about their games.

Harry Edwards & Luke Foley

Down back they were both terrific in the air and at ground level. They fought hard for us all day, they were under the pump at different times, but they continued to stand up under enormous pressure from Perth. Some really good signs from those two guys.

Zane Trew

He was a little bit quieter against East Fremantle the week before, but he rebounded strongly and was up against a tough midfield with some of our former players in there. He stood up well, being a young man with good intent around the ball, clean hands, and used the ball quite well with hand and foot.
