Leading digital brokerage platform, Stake, has announced a partnership deal with the West Coast Eagles which will see the two Australian entities showcase the opportunity for local investors to spread their wings into the US stock market.

The partnership comes as numbers of interest from WA investors hit new highs on Stake.

Earlier this year, Stake announced another growth milestone as its global customer base eclipsed 300,000. It now sits close to 350,000. Amongst this, data shows Perth-based investors grew 411% in just 9 months since June 2020, the fastest-growing region across Australia.

West Coast is one of the most iconic and successful sporting clubs in Australia and has a highly engaged and connected business network as well as a passionate supporter base which provides the opportunity for a strong alignment with Stake.

“I’ve been an Eagles fan since I was a kid growing up in Perth. To be able to partner with the club and showcase the opportunities for Western Australians to make their mark on the US market is a dream come true.” said Stake Founder and CEO, Matt Leibowitz.

Stake, the brainchild of Perth local, Matt Leibowitz, was founded in 2017 after he returned home to Australia from a 3-year stint working as a high-frequency trader in Chicago. Realising how complex it was for Australians to access the US stock market, Stake was founded. Stake pioneered commission-free trading ($0 brokerage) in this country and was the first to truly break the barriers to Wall St.

“We’re excited to partner with a company that represents similar values to the West Coast Eagles. We aspire to be industry leaders and like Stake, share a passion to innovate, be entrepreneurial and grow our services and business” said Tony Haselhurst, General Manager – Commercial Operations at the West Coast Eagles.

There has been strong momentum amongst retail investors continuing to make their money work for them on the US stock market. Western Australians alone have traded close to $US300 million in just 12 months through Stake. Even West Coast players are getting in on the action.

The partnership will involve a series of media sponsorships, integrations and content collaborations that focus on engaging people with the US market and bringing to life the values and mindset that both Stake and the West Coast Eagles represent.
