Sir Doug Nicholls Round

Strengthened by First Nations — Moments. Connections. Stories. SDNR will once again celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and contributions to Australian football, with this year’s celebration occurring in Round 10 (15–18 May) and Round 11 (22–25 May). It will be the 19th year the AFL has had a dedicated Indigenous Round and the 10th year it’s been known as Sir Doug Nicholls Round.

Reconciliation Action Plan

The Club's Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan for May 2025 through until December 2027 was developed under the guidance and support of reconciliation specialists Wonnil Partners, the Eagles RAP committee and First Nations Elders in residence Uncle Simon Forrest, Aunty Vivienne Hansen and Reconciliation Australia. This the Club’s fourth Reconciliation Action Plan, and it is built upon four pillars of Relationships, Respect, Opportunities and Governance.

    Professor Simon Forrest was born and raised in Wadjuk country (Perth). He has connections to country at Goomalling (Balardong), Swan Valley (Wajuk), Mt Magnet (Badimaya) and Leonora (Wongutha).

  • Vivienne ‘Binyarn’ Hansen

    Vivienne ‘Binyarn’ Hansen is a Balladong Wadjuk Yorga woman from the Bibbulmun Nation, or Noongar people, of the south-west of Western Australia.

We pay respect to Elders both past and present and extend that respect to all First Nations Peoples. The West Coast Eagles is committed to reconciliation and empowering First Nations Peoples through the establishment of the Waalitj Foundation in 2005.
