The West Coast Eagles have informed midfielder Brayden Ainsworth, small defender Ben Johnson and half-back Will Collins that they will not be offered contracts to continue with the club in 2022.

They have been at the club for varying periods, with Ainsworth the only member of that trio to play senior football. After joining the club via Subiaco with selection 32 in the 2017 National Draft, he played 14 games, including three in the 2018 premiership year.

Johnson, from West Perth, was drafted with pick 58 in the 2019 draft while Collins was secured in the 2021 mid-season draft from Swan Districts.

“These decisions and conversations are always difficult, but we felt it important for the players to make the calls now, rather than leave them in limbo through the trade period,” said senior coach Adam Simpson.

“I would like to thank each of them for the contribution they made to the club, particularly 'Bubba' (Ainsworth) who has been here for the last four years.

“They are all good young men with plenty of football ahead of them and we wish them well for whatever is in front of them for the next phase of their lives.”
