It was another frustrating season for the speed demon who only managed eight games across three stints in the side due to a range of setbacks.

Petruccelle started the season fast with two goals against Gold Coast in round one but three weeks later he was in the Health and Safety Protocols, and then suffered injury as he worked his way back at the WAFL Eagles.

The 23-year-old didn’t reappear at AFL level until round 14 against Geelong but in his fourth game back against Carlton was subbed out with hamstring tightness.

Returning after a couple of weeks out against the Suns at Metricon Stadium in round 20 – when Petruccelle snared three-second half goals – was all the electrifying half-forward managed before his season unfortunately came to an early end due to another hamstring complaint.

Standout performance: Sizzling against the Suns

At his best, Petruccelle is a handful for opposition defenders and the exciting Eagle was a key driver of the second half fightback that fell just short on the Gold Coast.

Trailing by five goals at the long break, West Coast needed a spark and Petruccelle (13 disposals, six score involvements) lifted – along with six-goal star Jack Darling – to help turn what seemed to be a match petering out into a thriller.

His third major running into goal from 30m out dragged the Eagles within seven points with nearly 14 minutes to play, but the visitors couldn’t edge ahead.
