The future is looking bright at the West Coast Eagles with five AFLW young guns earning nominations in the 2025 AFL Players’ Association’s 22Under22 squad, proudly presented by Intrepid.
Charlie Thomas, Ella Roberts, Georgie Cleaver, Jess Rentsch and Lucia Painter have all been recognised for their outstanding seasons, joining a prestigious list of emerging talent across the competition.
The 22Under22 squad celebrates the best young players aged 22 and under, with final selection determined entirely by fan vote.
This marks a significant milestone for the club, with five nominations highlighting the depth of young talent developing in the Eagles’ AFLW program.
Co-captain Charlotte Thomas has earned back-to-back nominations with another strong campaign in defence, showcasing elite composure and ball use under pressure.
Reigning Club Champion Ella Roberts, who also earned her second consecutive squad nomination, impressed with her dominance across the ground and continues to be one of the most exciting players in the League.
Jess Rentsch has quickly become a fan favourite thanks to her speed, tackling pressure and fearless approach. In a dominant performance, Rentsch was further recognised with her Rising Star nomination in round nine against the Crows.
Georgie Cleaver cemented herself as a key pillar in West Coast’s backline throughout 2025, showcasing her athleticism and composure under pressure while playing every game and earning career-best stats.
Lucia Painter burst onto the AFLW scene in 2025 with a dazzling debut, kicking three goals and quickly establishing herself as a dynamic forward-midfielder with elite work ethic and composure beyond her years, also earning a Rising Star nomination for her debut game in round one.
