Reliable defender Brady Hough is set to play in the WAFL practice match against Peel Thunder on Saturday after recovering well from an ankle injury.

Hough hurt his ankle at training four weeks ago and is set to be available for match minutes this weekend.

“Brady has progressed really positively, and we’re excited to hopefully see him back out there,” High Performance Manager Phil Merriman said.

“He’s recovered well and will be a test to play this week.”

Young gun Reuben Ginbey is managing an inflamed toe joint and has been placed on a short-term modified program which will keep him out of the AAMI Community Series clash against Port Adelaide at Mineral Resources Park on Sunday.

“At the moment we’re letting it settle, and the plan is to build him up for round one,” Merriman said.

Co-captain Liam Duggan is being managed conservatively following a recent head knock and will not feature against the Power.

“We are taking a more conservative route with Liam, given his history with concussion,” Merriman said.

“He’s building steadily and is on track for the round one match.”

Fellow co-captain Liam Baker is available for selection after being managed following AFL Origin, while Brandon Starcevich continues to progress through his reconditioning program following a low-grade calf strain and Jack Graham is ramping up his training.

“Brandon is continuing to build his reconditioning loads and is gradually moving back into the football program,” Merriman said.

“Jack is working through the gears nicely and is a strong chance to be available for round one.”

Tim Kelly will miss this weekend’s match after experiencing some hamstring tightness mid-week.

“Tim developed some hamstring tightness during training on Wednesday, and we have made the decision to hold him out from playing this weekend,” Merriman said.

“We are confident he will be available for our round one game.”
