Classy West Coast Eagles duo Shannon Hurn and Mark LeCras could push to convince the medical staff – and the match committee – that they are ready to resume in Sunday’s Carlton Draught Derby against Fremantle.

The fishing buddies were both on the track today as the club started preparations for the big game at Patersons Stadium.

LeCras has missed the last three games with a broken arm, while Hurn has missed the past month with a knee injury, suffered in the early stages against Melbourne.

Hurn was listed as a test on the club’s injury update yesterday, so to see him engaged in the training session with strapping on his right knee was no surprise, but LeCras, listed as a one- to two-week proposition, trained without strapping on his arm and showed no sign of discomfort during the 45-minute skill session.

Doubtless, both will assess their positions and if they come through without any post-training discomfort, will plead their case for medical clearance.

With no major injury issues arising out of the weekend, either through the WAFL or as a result of the game against Carlton, the only question marks around this week’s selection are whether two of the team’s most skilful players will be available.

Skipper Darren Glass has served a one-game suspension, while a host of others shone in the WAFL on Saturday and will warrant discussion at match committee.
