Subiaco product Charlie Thomas has emerged one to West Coast’s bright young stars entering her third season of AFLW following her selection in the 2021 NAB AFLW Draft. Previously a member of the AFL Women's Academy, Thomas is known for her clean hands thorough traffic and is a high-quality talent who can play across the ground. During season seven of the competition Thomas flourished in the halfback position averaging 14.7 disposals, 5.3 intercepts with 309.7 metres gained per game ultimately finishing fourth on the Eagles’ Club Champion table. Thomas was a bright spark in what was a challenging season for West Coast slowing the momentum of the league’s top sides, finishing fifth in the competition for rebound 50s with an average of 5.4 per game. With 20 matches of AFLW now under her belt Thomas’ has developed a strong combination of football nous and clever decision making that makes her a pest for opposition forwards. Looking ahead Thomas is eager to take her side to new heights and play a leadership role within the West Coast backline which she believes can grow to be one of the top defensive sides in the competition.
