Key defender Rhett Bazzo will play his first AFL match for 2025 after being named among four inclusions for Sunday’s road trip against Port Adelaide.

Bazzo, forward Matt Owies, experienced defender Tom Cole and exciting utility Tyrell Dewar have made the cut for the Adelaide Oval encounter.

It will be Bazzo’s first appearance at senior level since the final home and away round game last season in Geelong – his sole AFL match for 2024.

Following a foot setback in pre-season, the 21-year-old has strung together 12 WAFL games to push his case for a call up.

Owies booted four goals for the WAFL Eagles in their win over Subiaco last round returning from a calf issue, while Cole also got through his comeback from a hamstring setback.

Dewar is back for his first game since earning the Rising Star nomination in round 14 against Carlton, after his own hamstring concern.

Young guns Noah Long and Tom Gross have been named emergencies alongside omitted tall forward Jack Williams.

Tim Kelly, Bo Allan and Sandy Brock were also left out of the trip to South Australia.

Sunday’s clash will be broadcast live on Channel 7 and 7-plus in WA, and nationally on Fox Footy and Kayo.
