Waalitj Marawar defender Zoe Wakfer has been cleared of concussion from a head knock in Sunday’s game against Essendon and will look to be available to face the Saints this weekend.
“Zoe was removed from the Essendon game in the final quarter after sustaining a head knock,” High Performance Manager Sam Batterton said.
“Given the time in the game she did not return to the field, and upon further assessment she has been cleared of concussion.
“She will be monitored throughout the week and is expected to be available this weekend.”
Fellow defender Charlotte Riggs will be a test for this weekend, making positive strides with her wrist rehabilitation.
“Charlotte has a couple of final markers to tick off this week,” Batterton said.
“If all goes to plan, she will full train on Thursday to be available for selection this weekend.”
Annabel Johnson is progressing well on her road to recovery from a knee injury, while Lucy Boyd is coming along nicely from an ankle injury.
“Annabel Johnson has returned to running and had a really good run on the weekend,” Batterton said.
“She’s pulled up well from that so she’ll integrate some more intense running and change of direction in the coming weeks.
“Lucy Boyd is making really good progress with her ankle injury, she’s returned to running and changing direction and she will integrate into some football skills work this week and will look to train with the main group next week.”
Experienced defender Belinda Smith continues to work her way through a quad injury that she sustained in the pre-season.
“Belinda is progressing nicely with her quad,” Batterton said.
“She’s incorporating some high-speed running and change of direction, and she’s just started come kicking work, so she will look to do some skills work this week, with the goal of returning to group training next week.”
Sanne Bakker will be unavailable for selection this week due to illness.
