The West Coast Eagles have welcomed Isabella Shannon to their AFLW squad, with the experienced utility joining the Club as an injury replacement player for recruit Lily Smart.

Shannon earns her opportunity after two strong seasons with Perth in the WAFLW since relocating from Melbourne, establishing herself as one of the competition's most consistent performers.

The 25-year-old former St Kilda midfielder averaged 27.1 disposals, five tackles and a goal in 14 games for the Demons this year.

“Bella has been an extremely consistent performer at WAFLW level over the past two seasons since making the move from Melbourne,” AFLW List and Recruiting Manager Jordan Loxley said.

“She has continued to put herself in the frame through her form and ability to impact games week after week.

“Having previously played AFLW football, Bella brings valuable experience and versatility to our squad.

“Her ability to play multiple roles will provide us with greater flexibility throughout the season and add important depth to our list.”

Shannon will join the squad immediately as preparations continue for the Eagles’ season-opener against Greater Western Sydney on Sunday, August 16.

“Having spent the past two years as a train-on player, I've seen firsthand how connected and driven this group is. I'm excited for the opportunity to be part of something really special,” Shannon said.

“After balancing work, study and WAFLW footy for several years, I'm excited to fully commit to football, continue building my connections within the group and live out my dream of pulling on the blue and gold.”

Lily Smart will remain heavily involved in the program while continuing her rehabilitation and recovery from a knee injury.
