West Coast has secured exciting talent Charlotte Riggs to a three-year contract extension while vice-captain Mikayla Western has signed for a further season.
Riggs has committed to the Eagles through to the end of 2029 and Western will remain in blue and gold until at least the end of 2027.
Selected with pick 24 in the 2024 AFLW Draft, Riggs has quickly established herself as one of the club's most promising young players and featured in 11 games in her debut season.
The South Australian is a rare athletic talent with a strong aerial presence, impressive intercepting ability in defence and versatility as a key position utility.
“I’m incredibly excited and grateful for the opportunity to extend my time with the West Coast Eagles,” Riggs said.
“After a lot of prayer and reflection, there was nowhere else I’d rather be. From the moment I walked through the doors, I’ve felt welcomed and valued by the players, coaches and support staff.
“I’m excited about where this club is heading and can’t wait to continue developing my game and investing in my career here.”
Western will miss the 2026 AFLW season as she continues her recovery from an ACL injury, but the contract extension reflects the impact she has on and off the field.
“I feel incredibly grateful and valued by the club for them to extend my contract, given my current injury situation,” Western said.
“I’m looking forward to supporting this exciting group this season whilst working hard on the sidelines fine tuning my skills and getting fitter and stronger for 2027.”
AFLW List and Recruiting Manager Jordan Loxley was thrilled to re-sign Riggs and Western.
“Charlotte is an incredibly talented player with the versatility to genuinely impact the game at either end of the ground or through the ruck,” Loxley said.
"Just as importantly, Charlotte has an incredible ability to connect with everyone across the club, making her an extremely valued and well-liked teammate.
"We see Charlotte playing a key role in where this group is headed, and we're excited to have her committed for the next three years.
“While it’s obviously disappointing to lose Mikayla for the 2026 season, as our vice-captain, she’s an integral part of our program and someone who brings outstanding leadership and professionalism.
“While she’ll miss this season, we wanted to show our confidence in Mikayla by extending her contract.
“We know she’ll attack her rehabilitation and we’re excited to see her back out there in 2027.”
